Right-handed pitchers junior Logan Reddemann and sophomore Wylan Moss were selected as semifinalists for the National Pitcher of the Year award by the College Baseball Foundation on Tuesday.
It’s been a beastly season for the Bruins
The No. 1 UCLA baseball pitching staff helped the Bruins explosive offense on their way to a 27-game winning streak to put themselves far beyond the rest of their competition. Both pitchers have been dominant on the mound and controlled the game for the Bruins on their mission to sweep the Big Ten, as they put up a 37-3 overall record.
18 strikeouts is a good month for some pitchers
Reddemann etched himself in Bruins history with his record-tying 18-strikeout performance against Rutgers on Friday, April 11. The veteran pitcher has a 2.87 season earned run average with 84 strikeouts, 11 walks and 19 runs allowed in his eight wins.
A well deserved break
The hard work the Palmdale native has put in over the season has earned him a rest, according to a report by National College Reporter for Baseball America Jacob Rudner.
More lethal arms for UCLA
Moss has also put on a show for UCLA fans after his breakout freshman campaign. In his sophomore season, he has allowed only three earned runs in his over 34 innings of play with a season earned run average of 1.57 and 42 strikeouts.
UCLA’s got some impressive bats too
Although the Bruins have two of the most dominant arms in college baseball, junior shortstop Roch Cholowsky also received recognition with the selection as a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist.
