Troy Aikman brought home the Super Bowl MVP award at the Rose Bowl

Troy Aikman felt right at home for Super Bowl XXVII, with the former UCLA Bruin playing on his college field, the Rose Bowl, in the 1993 Super Bowl. Aikman won the first of his three Super Bowls, earning his only ever Super Bowl MVP. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills 52-17 in a game that was decided by halftime.

Aikman was deserving of the MVP award, throwing for 273 passing yards and four touchdowns. The UCLA product even rushed for 28 yards, despite his legs not being a major part of his game. Aikman found his No. 1 wideout, Michael Irvin, for two touchdowns and 114 yards.

Not only did the Cowboys have Aikman and Irvin, they also had NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith at running back. Smith rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The 1992-1993 Dallas Cowboys were quite the team, not only were they the youngest team in the league, Dallas also featured the best defense in the league. The Cowboys racked up a 13-3 record throughout the regular season, blew out the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round and then went on the road and knocked off the No. 1 seed San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game.

Aikman wasn’t the only Bruin who starred in Super Bowl XXVII, linebacker Ken Norton Jr. recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to close out the scoring in a lopsided Super Bowl.

If the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl on Sunday, Aikman and Norton will be joined by Zach Charbonnet and Jake Bobo as UCLA alumni to help their NFL team bring home the Lombardi Trophy.
