I’m a lifelong Californian. I’ve seen changes over the years, but the cost of living in the last decade in our Golden State is tarnishing every other reason to stay in California.
I live in a single-family home in a middle-class neighborhood where generations of some families are now living under one roof, grandparents are unable to afford senior care, adults are working multiple jobs, and the young adults can’t afford to move out.
Corporate conglomerates have purchased land and are pricing out residents.
California should invest in prefab, modular and industrialized construction and build with union labor. California should put families ahead of Wall Street, protect renters, and expand shelter and interim housing options with services.
The California dream will never come true for hardworking people unless we get to work on affordability! Tom Steyer is the person who can make this happen.
