The city of Hesperia is fine-tuning the details for the return of the annual free concert series, which is set to return to Hesperia Civic Park every Friday in August.
Formally dubbed the Bobcat’s Summer Concert Series, the events transform the park into a lively open-air venue where neighbors and families gather to hear performances from local headliners and opening acts, covering everything from country and classic rock to blues and oldies.
Attendees can also enjoy delicious food trucks and a welcoming beer garden hosted by the Hesperia Area Recreation District Foundation.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and jackets for the cooler desert evenings. Arriving early ensures prime seating on the grass and beating the dinner lines. The city encourages its residents to arrive hungry is a fantastic way to support the local food vendors and small businesses that make these community gatherings possible.
THE LOCAL TALENT
Marty Calderon & The Chulos, Aug. 7
Marty Calderon graduated from Hesperia High School in 2004. He played in local bands Manantial de Fuego, Twenty Dollar Prophets and Los Kombi before finding his own sound inspired by the romantic, Chicano sounds of The Silvertone and Thee Sinseers.
Calderon formed his current band in 2020 with musicians exclusively from the High Desert and together, they have serenaded the High Desert with their sounds of soul.
Pulp Vixen, Aug. 14
The rock tribute band Pulp Vixen is a female-fueled, high-octane performance quintet. From Santana to Dua Lipa, Pulp Vixen performances feature the best sounds of the decades, including hits from the ’70s, ’80s dance hits, sounds from the early 2000s, and today’s top 40 dance music.
The band is based in Corona but has rocked municipalities across Southern California and beyond.
Twenty Dollar Prophets, Aug. 21
Twenty Dollar Prophets is the High Desert’s favorite reggae band. Together since the early 2000s, the band has played at most Victor Valley venues, from Adelanto Stadium and Frogee’s Bar to Hesperia Lake Park and various venues in Lucerne Valley.
Don’t miss the chance to take things easy with the rhythmic groove of Twenty Dollar Prophets at the park.
Live From Earth: Pat Benatar & Beyond, Aug. 28
Celebrate the music of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Pat Benatar with Live From Earth at the last free concert at Hesperia Civic Park.
Named after Benatar’s 1983 live album “Live From Earth,” the group is fronted by vocalist Jill Marie Burke, whose powerful vocals and stage presence capture the spirit of Benatar’s iconic performances.
Backed by experienced musicians, the band delivers fan favorites such as “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Love Is a Battlefield” and “Heartbreaker.”
