Countdown to kickoff is back! USC will kick off its 2026 football season on August 29 when the Trojans host San Jose State at the Coliseum. In this series, we will be counting down the days until the season opener by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number.
With 28 days to go, today we look at former USC running back Aca’Cedric Ware.
Position: Running back
Years played at USC: 2015-2018
Career highlights: After seeing just 12 carries as a true freshman in 2015, Ware served as a key reserve running back for the Trojans during his sophomore and junior seasons. Following the departure of star running back Ronald Jones II to the NFL, Ward became USC’s primary back as a senior in 2018. Despite the team’s struggles on the field that year, Ward had an impressive season, carrying the ball 125 times for 825 yards and six touchdowns.
After USC: Ware signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. However, he was released by the team prior to the start of the regular season. Ware also had two separate stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad in 2019 and 2020, but he never appeared in a regular season game in the league.
