A Spectrum outage affected parts of the Coachella Valley on the afternoon of Monday, May 18.
Spectrum spokesperson Dennis Johnson said the outages were brief and not widespread, though he did not specify the number of customers who were impacted. Cities affected included Palm Springs and Palm Desert.
Spectrum customer service told a customer who is a Desert Sun staffer that the outage was due to damage from high winds.
Some users were given estimated restoration times ranging from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. though their service was back several hours before then.
The site DownDetector.com, which tracks user reports of outages, showed a spike in reports had begun shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Can I get a bill credit for Spectrum outage?
Spectrum customers can get credit on their bill for the whole day if a service outage lasts more than two hours in their neighborhood, according to the company’s website.
But that does not apply to “power outages, natural disasters and overnight scheduled maintenance,” the website says, without detailing what weather conditions Spectrum considers a “natural disaster.” Johnson, the spokesperson, said he did not immediately have more details on the company’s outage credit policy.
