Erin Resner and Mike Gallagher maintained their frontrunner status in the two races for Shasta County supervisor, while in the contest for county clerk and registrar of voters, Joanna Francescut widened her lead more, new vote totals from the June 2 primary showed.
The Shasta County Elections Office is releasing new vote results daily of its ballot tabulation. Officials released the latest figures the evening of Friday, June 5.
Shasta County voters are waiting to see who will be seated in District 1 and District 5 on the Board of Supervisors — seats being defended by incumbents Kevin Crye and Chris Kelstrom, respectively.
With thousands of votes uncounted, the races are still undetermined, meaning it’s not fully clear whether any of the candidates will win their race outright, which requires more than 50% of the vote, or go into a runoff in the Nov. 3 general election.
In the clerk’s race, incumbent Clint Curtis faces an uphill battle to overcome Francescut’s 18.26-point election advantage.
Ballot tabulation is ongoing at the Shasta County Elections Office, including those that were vote-by-mail or provisional or they require closer inspection. Curtis has said his office will be done counting by Monday, June 8

Erin Resner: 54.5%, with 3,819 votes (55.35% on June 4)
Kevin Crye: 38.19% with 2,676 votes (37.43% on June 4)
Richard Gallardo: 7.31% with 512 votes (7.22% on June 4)
Shasta County Board of Supervisors District 5
Mike Gallagher: 49.8% with 2,966 votes (49.31% on June 4)
Chris Kelstrom: 40.8% with 2,430 votes (40.81% on June 4)
Gary Oxley: 9.4% with 560 votes (9.68% on June 4)
Shasta County clerk and registrar of voters
Clint Curtis: 40.87% with 13,764 votes (41.89% on June 4)
Joanna Francescut: 59.13% with 19,916 votes (58.11% on June 4)
Measure B
Yes: 53.09% with 18,603 votes (53.64% on June 4)
No: 46.91% with 16,436 votes (46.36% on June 4)
