In rare move, Shasta supervisors call a closed session on Saturday

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors on Friday, June 5 took the unusual step of calling for a special meeting this Saturday to discuss in closed session possible litigation.

The board, which holds its regular meetings on Tuesday mornings from its chambers at the Shasta County Administration Center on Court Street in downtown Redding, posted an agenda on the topic.

County officials in the agenda estimated the discussion on the “Initiation of Litigation: One potential case” will last 45 minutes. It was not immediately clear what the case is about or what prompted the board to move to meet over the weekend.

The meeting is scheduled at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 at 1450 Court St. Suite 263.

The county agenda said that if the board has any reportable action, it will be reported to the public after the closed session concludes and the board returns to its open meeting.
