Moorpark teen arrested for selling drugs to minors
A Moorpark teen arrested on April 16 is accused of selling marijuana to youths in the city and having a stolen handgun.
In January, deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of two youths overdosing on marijuana edibles, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Investigators later identified the person who sold the edibles as a 16-year-old Moorpark resident who officials said used social media platforms to facilitate marijuana sales.
Detectives served a search warrant at the teen’s home on April 16 and found evidence of drug sales such as marijuana products, drug packaging material, and cash suspected of being proceeds from the drug sales, officials said. Sheriff’s detectives also said they found a stolen, loaded handgun with an extended magazine.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of marijuana sales to a minor and sale of a designated controlled substance.
The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the youth and has also requested that anyone with information call 805-383-8700 or email vcfocus@ventura.org.
