The Michigan Wolverines have to wonder if head coach Sherrone Moore is the right man for their program after a rough start to his tenure. There are plenty of options for their next head coach.
Moore has a 13-7 record since taking over Michigan, but he’s the Wolverines have distanced themselves from being a true contender in the Big Ten. The Big Ten Football Roundtable talked through, which coach should take over for the former Big Ten powerhouse if Moore was removed as the leader of the Wolverines.

Matt Campbell to Michigan has been floated for a number of years. That wouldn’t be my first choice, but it would be a clear upgrade from Sherrone Moore. Jeff Brohm of Louisville and Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss are solid choices.

Okay hear me out: Michigan head coach Urban Mey . . . just kidding. I think that Moore is still at least a year away from truly being on the hot seat, though, and the potential coaching candidates are going to change a lot during that time.

I’d be interested to see what Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell could do with Michigan. Over Campbell’s 15 seasons as a head coach with Iowa State and Toledo, he’s posted a 104-68 record. If Michigan is looking to make a change, Campbell could help elevate the program that’s still just two seasons removed from a national title.

If they move on from Moore, they will be looking for a a proven coach. Why not see if Nick Saban wants to join Bill Belichick as the oldest coach in college football? Sherrone Moore just might be the best option possible for Michigan, and retaining him might be the move that makes the most sense. Is anybody even running to get this job?
Ryan Lorenz, UCLA Wire
Iowa State’s Matt Campbell has been mentioned before, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end with the Wolverines. He’s had a lot of success with the Cyclones, so it would definitely be interesting to see him in a better program.

I would look at Curt Cignetti’s staff at Indiana. Current Hoosiers defensive coordinator Bryant Haines would bring the kind of no-nonsense smashmouth football to Ann Arbor that the Wolverines fans crave. Defensive coordinators at powerhouse programs have gone on to plenty of success in head coaching positions recently. But he could depart for a Head Coaching gig elsewhere if Michigan waits too long to scoop him up.
