Authorities are investigating a crash at the El Mirage Dry Lake Off-Highway Recreation Area that left two men dead on Saturday evening.
The deadly wreck was first reported just before 7 p.m. March 28 in the dry lakebed west of Mountain View Road and Mesquite Road, according to California Highway Patrol logs.
Initial reports indicated a vehicle overturned multiple times and caught fire.
Two men died at the scene. San Bernardino County Coroner’s officials were summoned to respond.
Coroner’s officials identified the victims as Mario Herrera, 36, of Van Nuys and Jose Martinez Villanueva, 45, of Apple Valley.
No further details were released by the CHP.
