Report: Sean McVay thinks Myles Garrett could go down as best edge rusher of all time

The Los Angeles Rams didn’t just trade for one of the best defenders in the NFL right now when they acquired Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. They believe they landed potentially the greatest edge rusher of all time. That’s a bold statement, but it’s apparently how highly Sean McVay views Garrett.

According to The Athletic, Garrett is one of McVay’s favorite players ever. Furthermore, McVay believes Garrett could one day be heralded as the best edge rusher to play in the NFL.

That’s some seriously high praise, given the decorated history of pass rushers such as Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White and Bruce Smith, among others.

The Rams have coveted Garrett for years. He’s one of McVay’s favorite players — ever. The coach believes Garrett could eventually be regarded as the best outside pass rusher of all time.

McVay will now be fortunate enough to coach two of the all-time greats up front. First, it was Aaron Donald from 2017-2023, who won three Defensive Player of the Year awards and was a perennial All-Pro.

Now, he gets to work with Garrett, who’s already won two Defensive Player of the Year honors and is a five-time All-Pro. Donald won a Super Bowl in L.A. Will Garrett do the same under McVay?

This could be the move that puts the Rams over the top as the Super Bowl favorites, propelling them to another ring – potentially as early as this season, with the Super Bowl being held at their home stadium in Inglewood again.
