Report: Rams, Myles Garrett agree to new 5-year contract

This story has been updated to provide new information.

Just days after acquiring Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns, the Los Angeles Rams are giving their new superstar a raise. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Garrett and the Rams have agreed to a reworked contract.

Florio doesn’t have the full details of Garrett’s new contract, but it’s a five-year deal through 2030 and there are options available through 2038 “for cap purposes,” Florio notes. Previously, Garrett was also signed through 2030.

The Rams are giving Garrett a $35.7 million signing bonus and his salary will be at least $1.3 million, which means his total pay for 2026 will be at least $37 million. Previously, he was set to make $31.5 million, so that’s a raise of at least $5.5 million.

The Rams traded Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, 2028 second-round pick and 2029 third-round pick for Garrett this week, landing the two-time Defensive Player of the Year in a blockbuster trade. Garrett signed an extension with the Browns last offseason that paid him $40 million per year, but five edge rushers have since eclipsed that number.

It’s unclear what Garrett’s new APY will be, but he could very well surpass Will Anderson Jr., who leads the position at $50 million per year.

Update (3:09 p.m. ET): According to Ian Rapoport, the Rams merely reworked Garrett’s contract and did not sign him to a new deal. They moved the vesting date of his guarantees back a few months.
