A man charged with attempted murder after intentionally driving his car into a group of people in east Redding earlier this year is expected to receive a prison sentence after pleading no contest.
Jesse Daniel Eneix, 43, pleaded to receive a sentence of seven years in state prison, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office said on Friday, April 24. Attorneys for both the prosecution and the defense agreed upon that stipulated sentence.
Eneix was being held without bail in the Shasta County Jail, the jail’s website said.
He is scheduled for judgment on May 18 before Shasta County Superior Court Judge Jody Burgess.
Eneix was charged with striking two people and grazing a third after driving into a group in a neighborhood on Reservoir Lane on Feb. 8. After hitting the pedestrians, Eneix drove away, according to the DA’s office.
The victims received minor injuries.
The attack came after a verbal disturbance between Eneix and the other individuals earlier in the day, said the DA’s statement. Authorities said Eneix made verbal threats toward one of the victims.
