Shadow Hills High School has a history of producing star offensive players. But almost all of them have been rushers.
Senior Jesse Rodriguez returns this year having already secured the school’s single-season records for passing yards (2,844) and touchdown passes (27). He’s back after producing the most prolific passing season in school history.
For that reason, Rodriguez checks in at No. 5 on The Desert Sun’s annual preseason Elite 11 countdown, highlighting the top returning players in the Coachella Valley ahead of the 2026 season.
Rodriguez, who helped lead the Knights to the CIF Southern Section quarterfinals a year ago, will be without his top two receivers from a year ago, but he still returns a lot of help in the receiving corps and a solid offensive line and help in the backfield.
He also has a first-time head coach in Nick King who is eager to prove himself and implement a scheme that could perhaps even take the Knights to new heights in the Desert Empire League.
