Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum is a big believer in his college quarterback heading into 2025.
Corum, who went to Michigan, told The Rich Eisen Show this week that he believes Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy will be very successful in his first NFL season after he missed the 2024 season with a knee injury.
“I think he’s going to be very successful this season,” Corum said. “I think he’s going to play with that chip on his shoulder just to prove to himself and everyone else that he is who he says he is. And he has the tools around him to be successful. Just knowing JJ, knowing how he grinds, knowing how smart he is and his love for the game, I see a very successful year for him and his group.”
McCarthy was the No. 10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but suffered a season-ending meniscus tear in his right knee during the preseason. Now, though, the Vikings gave him the reigns to start under center after the team didn’t bring back Sam Darnold.
Corum, the No. 83 pick in the 2024 draft, played three years with McCarthy at Michigan from 2021 to 2024 and won a national championship in 2024. He rushed 58 times for 207 yards and no touchdowns as a rookie for the Rams.
L.A. doesn’t play Minnesota this year, so the only time Corum and McCarthy could face each other would be in the playoffs. The Rams took down the Vikings in the 2024 Wild Card Round, but both Corum and McCarthy were on injured reserve and didn’t play.
