On3 Sports reported this past week that Washington head coach Jedd Fisch is a name to watch in the Bruins’ head coaching search. Both Fisch and the Bruins picked up Big Ten Conference wins this week, with Washington getting a home win over Rutgers while the Bruins went on the road and got a 38-13 win over Michigan State.
Fisch is now 11-8 with Washington since taking over before last season but could he already be looking to jump ship? Perhaps this is just an example of contract leveraging, as the Bruins’ on paper is a downgrade from the Huskies’ football program that appeared in a national title game this decade. Fisch does have experience in the Bruins’ program, serving as UCLA’s interim head coach in 2017 but could that be enough to encourage him to leave Washington for another Big Ten head coaching gig?
Fisch’s alma mater, Florida, could also be looking for a new head coach which may end up being a more desirable landing spot for Fisch, who of course, could just remain with Washington, as the Huskies currently own a 5-1 record with their only loss coming against No. 1 Ohio State.
Washington’s offense shined against Rutgers, putting up 590 yards from scrimmage with sophomore Demond Williams Jr. throwing for 402 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns with Williams rushing for another 136 yards and two more touchdowns. If Fisch is planning to leave Washington, he’s putting up some good film to head out on. Not only would his addition help the Bruins, it’d hurt a Big Ten opponent.
