Palm Street Park’s upcoming expansion in Hesperia will include a splash pad, dog park and other amenities designed to promote healthy lifestyles and to create a more inclusive park experience.
The Hesperia Recreation and Park District is inviting the public to the expansion groundbreaking at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at 13558 Palm St. The event location is the Rick Novack Community Center and adjacent Palm Street Park, which includes a shaded grassy area, playground and picnic tables.
The park’s expansion will include a splash pad, a dedicated dog park, an upgraded walking trail and outdoor restroom facilities.
“This project reflects the District’s ongoing commitment to providing quality parks and recreational amenities that serve the needs of our growing community,” Park District General Manager Robert Hernandez said. “We are excited to break ground on these improvements and look forward to the positive impact they will have on families throughout Hesperia.”
Palm Street Park is located south of Main Street and west of the California Aqueduct, in a once sparsely populated area that now includes a number of tract developments.
On Wednesday, a crew was working on cleared land earmarked for 36 single-family homes between Palm and Lime streets, and Afton and Mesa avenues.
Palm Street Park is also located less than a mile east of Maple Park, which is located at Muscatel Street and Malibu Avenue and adjacent to Mission Crest Elementary School.
