Law enforcement officials towed more than 150 vehicles in roughly eight hours during an overnight enforcement campaign targeting long-expired vehicle registration in Victorville, authorities said.
The citywide “vehicle registration compliance” operation began the night of Sunday, June 7, and continued into the early morning hours Monday, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials and records.
The operation was carried out by the Victorville Police Department’s Traffic Division, along with Code Compliance officials, sheriff’s department spokeswoman Socorro Cuevas said.
“The operation focused on all vehicles parked on public roadways that did not meet safety or registration requirements and were towed in accordance with [California Vehicle Code] 22651,” she said.
“Over 150 vehicles were located and removed from the roadway that had expired registration over 6 months or longer,” according to Cuevas.
Department dispatch logs showed more than 170 vehicle tows or removals between about 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday.
No incidents were reported during the operation.
