The Chicago Bears’ offense is full of young, talented weapons. In Year 3, Caleb Williams has a strong arsenal to work with. It will be interesting to see which young receiver rises and becomes the number one guy. So far, one name sticks out among the rest: Luther Burden. In a recent article, Alyssa Barbieri displayed who Ben Johnson thinks will be the Bears’ No. 1 receiver this season:
The Bears are betting big on Luther Burden in 2026, and the sky is the limit. But don’t take it from me. Listen to head coach Ben Johnson.
“I’m buying Luther Burden stock right now,” Johnson said during OTAs. “He has been extremely coachable. …Yesterday, he had numerous explosive plays.”
Johnson doesn’t hand out immense praise casually, so it’s definitely noteworthy listening to one of the NFL’s brightest offensive minds discussing Burden’s growth between Year 1 and Year 2 and unlocking his full potential.
“He looks like he is moving at a different speed right now,” Johnson said. “He is not thinking as much. The game is slowing down for him.”
Luther Burden is primed for a big season, and that will be huge for 3rd year quarterback Caleb Williams. Luther Burden has an elite skillset, and if he takes a step forward, he can make the Bears offense even more dangerous. The game will be so much easier for Caleb with a target like Burden. Those two could create the next great connection in Chicago next season.
