The much-anticipated Los Alazanes Mexican Food restaurant opened next to Uncle Albert’s Mart and Shell gas station on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley.
Since June 2025, when the owners of Los Alazanes installed signage outside vacant tenant space, residents have asked when the popular dine-in and take-out restaurant, with a drive-through, would open.
On Friday, Los Alazanes welcomed customers with breakfast dishes, combination plates, burritos, tacos, tortas, chimichangas, sopes, enchiladas, menudo, dessert, a variety of drinks and more.
On Sunday afternoon, several customers stood in line inside the new restaurant, which had a Western theme, with photos of horses, a wall-mounted horse saddle and other decor.
Dawn Clifton walked out of the new Los Alazanes with a “Super Burrito,” carne asada plate, an al pastor burrito and drinks.
“Having one closer to our house is nice,” Clifton told the Daily Press. “We’ll probably stop by at least once a week.”
This Daily Press reporter ordered two al pastor tacos, which overflowed with flavorful meat, guacamole and pico de gallo.
A self-serve island also offered a variety of salsas from mild to “So hot that I can’t stop sweating.”
Over the years, Los Alazanes has expanded with seven locations in the High Desert, including Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia and Victorville. There is also a restaurant in Anaheim.
Over the years, Los Alazanes has garnered several Daily Press Best of the Desert awards.
Los Alazanes Mexican Food restaurant and Uncle Albert’s Mart and Shell gas station are at the intersection of Bear Valley and Deep Creek roads in Apple Valley.
