Man fatally struck by car in Victorville

A man was struck and killed by a car while walking across Green Tree Boulevard in Victorville on Wednesday night, law enforcement officials said.

The collision took place about 8:25 p.m. along the boulevard just east of Third Avenue, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel.

The victim, initially described as a man in his 30s, was attempting to cross the street when he was hit by a sedan headed west on Green Tree Boulevard, she said.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His identity was not released Thursday.

“The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators,” Orejel said.

The cause and circumstances of the collision remained under investigation, but DUI was not initially suspected to be a factor, she said.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the Victorville Police Department at (760) 241-2911. Information may also be submitted anonymously to the We-Tip hotline at (800) 782-7463.
