Ventura Police Cmdr. Todd Hourigan said a person reported a man demanded his headphones and lifted his shirt to show what appeared to be a revolver.

Hourigan said the suspect walked away with the headphones but was detained 15 minutes later by officers. They said they recovered the headphones and also found a small hatchet in the man’s waistband. Hourigan said officers searched the area for a gun but didn’t find one.

The man was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felonies for robbery and carrying a weapon classified as a dirk or a dagger. He is being held on $210,000 bail, jail records show.

The man is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court June 30.
