A 63-year-old Apple Valley man was arrested following an eight-hour standoff with a SWAT team on Wednesday, officials said.
The incident began about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 12 with a report of someone recklessly shooting a gun in a residential neighborhood in the 20000 block of Rimrock Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“The suspect, later identified as Juan Espinoza-Palacios, barricaded himself inside the residence, prompting the response of the Specialized Enforcement Division to assist deputies,” sheriff’s officials said in a written statement.
Following eight hours of negotiations, Espinoza-Palacios exited the home and surrendered.
He was arrested on suspicion of firing a firearm with gross negligence, and bail was set at $230,000.
