A long-haul trucker from Hesperia has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a child, and investigators say there believe there may be additional unidentified victims, authorities said Tuesday, May 5.
Adair Fernando Garcia-Sanchez, 30, of Hesperia was arrested Thursday, April 23, while deputies were serving a warrant at his home in the 14300 block of Pinewood Drive, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and county booking records.
He pleaded not guilty Tuesday, April 28, to four child molestation-related charges, as well as one count of possession or distribution of child pornography and one count of using a minor for obscene matter, San Bernardino County Superior Court records show. He also denied a special, sentence-enhancing allegation of having a prior “serious felony conviction.”
Garcia-Sanchez was released from jail on his own recognizance pending further legal proceedings, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled Thursday, May 7, at the Victorville courthouse.
The charges stem from the alleged sexual abuse of a minor that took place in Hesperia in 2024, sheriff’s officials said in a written statement The victim subsequently relocated to Nebraska.
“Due to Garcia-Sanchez’s profession as a long-distance truck driver, and additional evidence, detectives believe there may be more victims and are releasing his photo,” the statement said.
No further information was released.
Garcia-Sanchez was previously convicted of unlawful sex with a minor more than three years younger and burglary in 2021 following an arrest in 2018, records show. He received a six-year prison sentence.
Additional charges of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, having contact with a minor for a sexual offense and arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes were dismissed by the court.
