A side story to the Los Angeles Rams’ aggressive roster construction this offseason is the lack of depth in their cornerback room. Choosing to let Cobie Durant and Ahkello Witherspoon walk, despite both players signing cheap deals with their new squads, the Rams are investing in quality over quantity, having added Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.
At this point, the Rams are set to enter training camp with three starting-caliber cornerbacks, compared to the four they had last season. Considering all four needed to play starting snaps in 2025 due to injury, the Rams are leaving the cupboard bare, especially after another top option signed elsewhere.
Despite being encouraged to do so on social media, the Rams did not bring in McDuffie’s and Watson’s Super Bowl-winning teammate, L’Jarius Sneed, and now he’s off the market. Sneed is returning to the Kansas City Chiefs, a place he won two titles alongside the Rams’ top two corners.
Earlier this offseason, Watson and Sneed alluded to a hypothetical reunion in Los Angeles. However, it didn’t come to fruition, with Watson, McDuffie, and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. set to operate as the team’s outside cornerbacks in 2026.
Sneed ended his 2024 and 2025 seasons on injured reserve, suffering quadriceps injuries.
