The final performances of Lincoln Unified School District’s summer production, “High School Musical,” will take place this weekend.
The musical, part of the district’s summer theater program, will be performed at the Lincoln High School Performing Arts Center, 6844 Alexandria Place, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
“High School Musical” tells the story of Troy Bolton, the popular basketball team captain at East High, and Gabriella Montez, a shy, academically gifted transfer student. They meet at a New Year’s Eve party and discover a shared passion for singing. Their decision to try out for the school musical challenges the rigid social cliques at East High and inspires other students to embrace their hidden talents and follow their dreams, promoting themes of friendship, self-discovery and breaking stereotypes.
The show’s top musical numbers include “Breaking Free,” “We’re All in This Together,” “Start of Something New,” “Stick to the Status Quo,” “Bop to the Top” and “Get’cha Head in the Game.”
“I chose ‘High School Musical’ because it celebrates friendship, courage and embracing who you are — the values I hope every student carries with them,” said Carlie Buchanan, director of Lincoln Unified’s high school summer theater production. “It’s a joyful, high-energy show that brings our community together and reminds us that we’re all in this together.”
Lincoln Unified’s “High School Musical” cast includes Clayton Jolley as Troy Bolton, DeJalynn Samaniego as Gabriella Montez, Cate Conway-Brandt as Sharpay Evans, Kobe Davis as Ryan Evans, Adonis Caldwell as Chad Danforth, Gabriel Cordero as Zeke Baylor, Sienna McNary as Taylor McKessie, Kylynn Burkum as Martha Cox, Piper Dasig as Kelsi Nielsen, Sidney Clark as Jack Scott, Carly Monroe as Ms. Darbus and Carter Cadman as Coach Bolton.
Tickets can be purchased in person one hour before each showtime. Admission is $12 for the general public or $6 with a Lincoln Unified School District ID. Only cash is accepted.
