Kam Curl says Rams defense has a 'chance to be legendary'

One of the defining pieces in the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive rebuild, safety Kam Curl, has been a star since arriving in Los Angeles. Coming in for the 2024 season, Curl made his impact felt as his turnover-creating ability launched the team’s comeback from a slow start that year, leading to their success in 2025.

Curl, who signed a new three-year deal this offseason, is entering the best defense he’s ever played with after the Rams added Trent McDuffie, Myles Garrett, and Jaylen Watson to an already stacked roster. Curl is excited about what his defense has in store for 2026, and in a recent interview with Kay Adams on “Up & Adams”, Curl said he believes the Rams have a chance to be a legendary defensive unit.

“Right now it’s early. It’s only what, June? But I feel like we’ve got a chance to be legendary,” Curl said. “Just the type of guys we got, the coaches we got, we’ve got a bunch of experience back there. We’ve got some Super Bowl winners in there, we’ve got some Defensive Player of the Years. We’ve got some guys that, if we do what we’ve got to do, we can be one of the best.”

McDuffie and Watson are two-time Super Bowl winners for the Kansas City Chiefs, while Garrett, the NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year and holder of the NFL single-season sacks record, is teaming up with Pro Bowler Byron Young. Young had 12 sacks in 2025.
