The UCLA Bruins have revitalized their 2025 season. They blew out two Big Ten teams. Interim head coach Tim Skipper and offensive coordinator Jerry Neuheisel have created the possibility for UCLA to stack up a couple more wins in the remaining stretch of the season. Indiana and Ohio State are on the schedule, but national commentators are hyping up those matchups. It’s actually happening.
Since Skipper has taken over the Bruins, UCLA has gone 2-1 in conference play. Skipper made a change by parting ways with offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri and promoted Jerry Neuheisel, which has ignited an electrifying offense with redshirt sophomore quarterback Nico Iamaleava under center.
Here’s a prediction of how the latest iteration of the 2025 UCLA football team will perform through the rest of the season.
Week 8: Home game versus Maryland
The Terrapins just lost an emotional rollercoaster of a game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers where they gave up four touchdowns, but also had three interceptions. With Neuheisel calling the plays, Iamaleava has looked sharp and protected the ball. The Bruins could stack another consecutive win with the momentum they’ve been building up over the past couple weeks to get to a 3-4 record.
Week 9: Road game versus Indiana
The Bruins win streak ends here. The Hoosiers were just ranked the No. 3 team by USA TODAY Sports US LBM Coaches Poll after they trumped the No. 9 Oregon Ducks. Although the Bruins have been playing good football lately, they don’t have the firepower to contain the Hoosiers. This should be a win for the Hoosiers and UCLA will fall 3-5.
Week 11: Home game versus Nebraska
The Cornhuskers have played sloppy and sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola has put the football in harms way, which means UCLA should have opportunities to get some turnovers. The Bruins could secure their fourth win of the season with Iamaleava taking over the game and protecting the ball. Bruins will be 4-5 headed into Week 12.
Week 12: Road game versus Ohio State
Chalk this one up as a loss. The Buckeyes are the best team in the country and barring anything drastically changing, the Bruins should get smoked. Ohio State has been a buzzsaw and their defense is top notch, which should make any chances of UCLA performing a miracle near impossible. UCLA will fall to 4-6.
Week 13: Home game versus Washington
The Huskies will go to the Rose Bowl Stadium for UCLA’s last home game of the season and the Bruins have a chance to take out last weeks frustration on the Huskies. Washington has a good team and they will probably take this one, but if the Bruins defense can stop sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr, then they have a chance. With the way UCLA has played as of late, they get this win and go to 5-6.
Week 14: Road game versus USC
The Bruins will end this rollercoaster of a season with a loss to their crosstown rival, the USC Trojans. They have made the US LBM Coaches Poll twice and are currently ranked as No. 22 team in college football after thrashing the Michigan Wolverines. Can UCLA win? Maybe, but after an emotional season, it’s difficult to see the Bruins pulling out a win against D’Anton Lynn’s defense and Lincoln Riley’s potent offense.
Overview
Is 5-7 a bad record for the 2025 Bruins? Obviously it wasn’t what anyone was expecting ahead of the season, but with the horrendous start and coaching changes, it’s a pretty favorable outcome. It’s difficult to go undefeated and with UCLA losing to the Mountain West teams and Northwestern, they were left with some of the better Big Ten teams.
