Former Warriors lottery pick ranked among biggest draft busts of all-time

The Golden State Warriors have one of the best track records in league history when it comes to the NBA Draft. Golden State has drafted 15 Hall of Famers, including greats like Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Robert Parish and more. That doesn’t even include active players like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green who are destined for the Basketball Hall of Fame.

That said, in the last 10 years or so, the franchise hasn’t seen much success on draft night. Although they did hold many late first-round picks in the decade due to their status as contenders, the Warriors weren’t able to make the most of their top-10 picks.

In a recent list put together by Bleacher Report, ranking the top-99 draft busts of all-time (encompassing all four major sports leagues), Golden State was featured in the No. 55 position for the selection of James Wiseman. The Warriors drafted Wiseman No. 2 overall from Memphis after just three games in college. Although he remains in the NBA, he’s yet to live up to the billing as a future star, and his tenure with Golden State lasted just 60 games.

While the Warriors could certainly use another key contributor from the 2020 class at the moment, considering their history of nailing picks, Golden State shouldn’t feel too bad for their inclusion on the list.
