One of the best traits a quarterback can have is how well he plays in the clutch. Caleb Williams may have some areas in which he needs to improve, but there were not many quarterbacks better than him in the clutch last season. Caleb Williams being elite in the clutch has now propelled him in NFL quarterback rankings.
In a recent tweet, Bearsszn puts on display ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler’s thoughts on where Caleb Williams ranks among the top quarterbacks in the league. Here is what Fowler had to say:
“Caleb Williams is looked at around the league as a Top 10 QB and one of the very best closers in the NFL….the key they’re working on in minicamp, OTAs and Training Camp is getting him to work inside the pocket to take the layups when they’re there, the checkdowns, the easy completions….but with Caleb Williams right now…..he’s the type of player that can make plays only Patrick Mahomes could make before him. He’s got that ceiling right now. So big things for the Bears in year three.”
Caleb Williams, coming out of the draft, drew comparisons directly to Patrick Mahomes. In year 2, it was evident that those were the correct comparisons. Caleb Williams accomplished more than many Bears quarterbacks have ever accomplished in just 1 season. The sky is the limit for Caleb Williams, but right now, he is one of the 10 best quarterbacks in the league.
