Authorities issued an evacuation warning as crews battled a fire off Yerba Buena Road near the southeastern edge of Ventura County on Aug. 7.
Dubbed the Buena Fire, the blaze was reported shortly after 5 p.m. in the 14000 block of Yerba Buena Road, in the Santa Monica Mountains near the border of Ventura and Los Angeles counties. The fire had burned nearly 6 acres, according to radio traffic.
Shortly after 6 p.m., authorities reported that crews had stopped the forward progress of the fire. An evacuation warning issued for an area around Carlisle Road, south of Morvale Drive, remained in place as of 6:30 p.m.
Aircraft and engines had responded to the blaze, and an estimated 100 personnel were assigned to the fire shortly after it was reported, the Ventura County Fire Department said. After forward progress was stopped, firefighters continued work to strengthen containment lines and extinguish hot spots, officials said.

Meanwhile, crews continued to battle the Ridge Fire in the Gorman area of Los Angeles County. The blaze first reported Friday afternoon had burned 1,000 acres by 5:30 p.m. The fire shutdown Interstate 5 and prompted an evacuation order and warnings in Los Angeles and Kern counties, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The California Department of Transportation reported northbound lanes of the 5 freeway were closed at Smokey Bear Road and southbound lanes were closed at Frazier Mountain Park Road. Southbound traffic also was turned around at Grapevine Road.
Local firefighters had also responded to the area, which sits just over the border of northeastern Ventura County.
