The UCLA Bruins football team participated in media day on July 29, and three of the Bruins’ best players were interviewed by Mike Hall on the Big Ten Network.
Among those athletes was starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava, the junior who transferred to Westwood from Tennessee last summer. Also featured were defensive starters, senior linebacker Samuel “Sammy” Omosigho and junior defensive back Cole Martin.
During the interview, Hall asked Iamaleava what it’s like when Martin gets after him at practice.
“It’s great, it’s competitive. Cole likes to trash talk a lot, so me and him have our banter out there. Sammy, not so much. I’m trying to get him to talk a little bit more,” Iamaleava responded. “It’s definitely fun competition out there. We definitely bring out the best in each other. We’re continuing to get better every day.”
The returning Bruins, Iamaleava and Martin, ended the segment by doing a bow-and-arrow handshake, which indicated how high the chemistry already is at UCLA entering a new season.
