CIF boys basketball playoffs: East Union, Venture Academy lone quarterfinal survivors

Win or go home. The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section boys basketball playoffs have arrived.

Fifteen San Joaquin County teams started the chase. Ten were sent home after the opening round. Five moved on.

Now, following the quarterfinals, it’s down to two — East Union and Venture Academy.

First-round games began Feb. 18. Quarterfinals followed Feb. 20. Semifinals are set for Feb. 24, with championship games scheduled for Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

Before the first ball is tossed, here’s where each team finished in league play.

San Joaquin Athletic Association: Weston Ranch (first), Edison (second), Tokay (sixth).

Tri-City Atlantic League: Lincoln (second), Tracy (third), Lodi (fourth), St. Mary’s (fifth).

Valley Oak League: Mountain House (first), East Union (second), Oakdale (fourth).

Trans Valley League: Ripon Christian (first), Escalon (third).

Sierra Valley Conference: Liberty Ranch (first).

Central California Athletic Alliance League: River Island (first).

Independent: Venture Academy.

The matchups are finalized. Now the focus shifts to the results.
