Earlier, the Summit Emergency Communications Center said non-emergency lines were “experiencing difficulties.”

South Summit Dispatch, which serves Green, New Franklin, Lakemore, Springfield Township and Clinton, saw 911 service go down late in the evening. By 12:10 a.m. May 27, service was restored.

Hudson, which is not a part of those dispatch centers, said it also lost 911 service. Those with emergencies were directed to dial 330-208-3935.

Portage, Stark and Mahoning counties also experienced outages, according to Facebook posts.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office and its Emergency Management Agency urged residents with emergencies to call 330-842-6399. All police and fire departments were affected.

“The Portage County Sheriff’s Office and EMA are investigating the cause and working on full restoration,” the offices announced in a joint statement on Facebook.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office reported by 12:30 a.m. that its 911 lines were back up. Earlier, residents with emergencies were directed to call a different number to reach a dispatcher.

Service in Mahoning County also went down May 26, but at 11:20 p.m. the Boardman Township police department reported 911 phone services were restored.

Hudson noted in its Facebook post that the outage was areawide and that its provider, which it did not name, was working on a solution.
