Deputies found a woman in the roadway suffering from major injuries. She was transported by Cal Fire medical personnel to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies, the sheriff’s department said. While the cause of the collision was still being investigated Tuesday, alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors, according to the department.

The woman had not yet been identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, as her next-of-kin was still being notified.
