Cal State Fullerton is mourning the loss of Lauren Turner, a standout on the women’s soccer team who died Friday, Nov. 7, after spending nearly six weeks in intensive care. The university announced her passing Monday, Nov. 10, following injuries sustained in a Sept. 27 off-campus traffic collision.

Lauren Turner a rising star on the Titans soccer team
Turner, a sophomore from Tustin, California, appeared in 10 games this season and made eight starts. She played the full 90 minutes in the Titans’ 1-0 win over Pittsburgh on Aug. 28 — the program’s second-ever victory over an ACC opponent.
As a freshman, Turner played in all 20 games, scored her first collegiate goal against UC Riverside on Oct. 3, 2024, and earned four starts.
Her teammates described her as “the funniest, most charismatic, and loving teammate you could ever ask for,” adding: “She was the first to celebrate other people’s wins. She always carried herself with compassion, kindness, and happiness. The impact she made on the Titans women’s soccer program is immeasurable.”
Candlelight vigil planned for Lauren Turner
The Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer team will hold a candlelight vigil in Turner’s honor on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 5:30 p.m. PT at Titan Stadium.
“She will be dearly missed by everyone but forever remembered by her Titan family,” the team said. “We love you, Lauren, our No. 5 Forever.”
