Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe's $200M makeover adds new bar, pool, more

Just a two-hour drive from Stockton, Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe is entering a major new phase of its $200 million makeover — bringing fresh amenities, new dining and a revamped look that will reshape the iconic South Shore property for a new era.

Caesars Entertainment has upped the ante on its rebrand of the former Harveys property in Nevada’s Stateline, with the cost of the hotel-casino project growing to $200 million from its initial $160 million price tag. Caesars wrapped up the first phase last summer.

The second phase “continues the destination resort’s evolution into a modern alpine escape,” according to Caesars. One of the goals for the renovation was to provide guests a more luxurious, upscale experience compared to Harveys, the company added.

“This next chapter brings even more ways for guests to relax, connect and celebrate in style,” said Karie Hall, senior vice president and general manager of Harrah’s and Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe.

The second phase includes Caesars’ first partnership at one of its Northern Nevada hotel-casinos with Las Vegas-based Clique Hospitality. Clique, which describes itself as a “restaurant and nightlife group,” previously partnered with Caesars to create Caspian’s Cocktails & Caviar at Caesars Palace Las Vegas in 2024.

The second collaboration between Caesars and Clique will be called Tessie’s Cocktails & Chords. The bar and lounge concept is named after local myth “Tahoe Tessie,” the alpine lake’s version of the Loch Ness monster.

Tessie’s Cocktails & Chords will feature a cocktail program, a broad selection of beer and wine, and live music.

“We conceptualized Tessie’s to capture the heartbeat of Tahoe, great music, strong cocktails and rock and roll energy from the moment you walk in,” said Andy Masi, Clique Hospitality founder.

Tessie’s Cocktails & Chords further expands the bar lineup for Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, which also has the Alto Bar, Bar Centro, Celeste’s and Dueling Pianos. Tessie’s is scheduled to open this summer.

Other amenities planned for the second phase of the Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe rebrand include:

The latest renovations build on the first phase of the rebrand, completed in July 2025.

Since starting out in 1944 as a cafe and gas station with three slot machines, the property has grown to comprise 88,000 square feet of gaming space with 1,200 slot machines and nearly 100 live-action table games.

The first phase included a remodel of the rooms at Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe’s towers, which were renamed Remus Tower and Romulus Tower after the brothers of Roman legend. Caesars reduced the total number of rooms for the Remus Tower to 742 and the Romulus Tower to 735 so it can create larger suites.

It also remodeled the lobby, which saw a major redesign and the addition of Cleo’s Coffee and Cocktails nearby, and did work on parts of the casino floor.

The second phase of Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe’s renovation is expected to be completely finished by the summer of 2026.
