Breeze blocks, colors pop at Modernism Week's Marquee at Twin Palms

Who said breeze blocks were out of style? Certainly no one ever in Palm Springs.

That exterior mid-century modern staple is all the rage at The Marquee at Twin Palms, one of the featured homes to tour at Modernism Week 2026. The architectural event runs through Feb. 22.

Built in 1957, the home was recently renovated by H3K Home + Design, focusing on pops of color and different styles in each room. The home evolved from its original two-bedroom layout into a four-bedroom, three-bath space.

Groups of pink breeze blocks welcome guests on both sides of the home’s entrance, and windows inside the kitchen and one of the bedrooms provide scenic views of them as well as the surrounding mountains. The pool/outdoor entertaining area also features similar blocks that serve as fences or wall dividers.

The Marquee at Twin Palms embodies its era’s signature post-and-beam style, with soaring ceilings and walls of glass to invite sunlight and mountain views inside. Other designs aspects, such as colorful and eye-catching wallpaper, bring a modern look to the home.

Tours at The Marquee at Twin Palms run on select dates through Feb. 22. Tickets can be purchased at ModernismWeek.com.
