Authorities find body in Santa Clara River near Saticoy
The remains of a body have been recovered by authorities from the bottom of a river in an unincorporated area outside of Saticoy.
On Jan. 23 at 3:23 p.m., the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an air pilot on a discovery of a body in the water of the Santa Clara River, said Capt. Aaron Grass.
The “partially decomposed” body was recovered from the Santa Clara River in the Ellsworth Barranca area near Saticoy by the sheriff’s office air unit and the remains were taken to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, he said.
No other details were available, Grass said.
3 arrested in Camarillo after report theft
A 38-year-old woman, 28-year-old woman and a female juvenile were arrested by deputies in an incident tied to a Jan. 24 Camarillo retail store theft, according to authorities.
At 12:15 p.m., Ventura County Sheriff’s Office received a call from mass retailer Target on Ventura Boulevard on a theft incident, according to Capt. Aaron Grass. The sheriff’s office provides police services for the city of Camarillo.
Shortly after, deputies stopped and arrested three females for their alleged involvement in that theft at Target, on felony offenses of conspiracy to commit a crime, according to Grass and jail records.
The juvenile was cited for the offenses and released, Grass said.
A 38-year-old woman and 28-year-old woman are both being held at a Ventura County jail with a bail set at $20,000 each and a Ventura County Superior Court hearing scheduled for Jan. 27, jail records show.
Another three women arrested after Thousand Oaks theft
Three more women were arrested by deputies on Jan. 24 after a report of retail store theft in Thousand Oaks.
Around 4:48 p.m., workers at CVS on Moorpark Road contacted the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office about a theft , according to Capt. Aaron Grass. The sheriff’s office provides police services for the city of Thousand Oaks.
Within an hour, deputies made a traffic stop of three women, aged 22, 19 and 18, and arrested them on suspicion of felony offenses of organized retail theft, according to Grass and jail records.
The three are being held at a Ventura County jail with a bail set at $250,000 each and are scheduled for a Ventura County Superior Court hearing on Jan. 27, jail records show.
