Coroner’s officials have released the identity of a 53-year-old Apple Valley man who was killed in a crash between a pickup truck and a motorized shopping cart he was riding last week.
Joe Dominguez II died following the collision, which took place about 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Dale Evans Parkway and Zuni Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
He was heading north on Dale Evans Parkway in the unconventional vehicle when he was hit from behind by a 2002 Mazda B-Series pickup truck that was also traveling north, sheriff’s officials said at the time.
Dominguez was taken to a hospital, where he ultimately died from his injuries.
The driver of the involved truck, described as a 49-year-old Barstow man, remained at the scene, officials said.
The investigation was being spearheaded by a Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
