Almost 580 seniors graduate from Oxnard High School

Some 580 students graduated from the 124-year-old Oxnard High School in Oxnard on June 3.

During the commencement ceremony, the school’s Top 10 Scholars, AP Capstone Scholars and eight valedictorians and a life member of the California Scholarship Foundation, among others, were given a nod, according to Ted Lawrence, principal of Oxnard High School.

Notable graduates included Julian Ramirez-Vasquez, champion of Ventura County Migrant Speech and Debate tournament, and Anahi Roldan Rosales, who made CIF-SS Masters Championship in Unified Sports for shot put, Lawrence said. The principal said twin brothers Alexander and Maximillian Vaughan, graduates and Top 10 Scholars, are headed to rival universities. Alexander plans to attend UCLA to study engineering while Maxmillian is bound for the University of Southern California to study business.

Performances at the event included Mariachi Ocho Estrellas, the high schools’ mariachi group and band, Lawrence added.
