49ers LB suffers injury in second quarter vs. Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers entered their Week 18 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium already thin at defense, as Fred Warner and Nick Martin are on injured reserve and Curtis Robinson is inactive.

Things got worse in the second quarter for San Francisco’s linebacker group when a Seahawks offensive lineman stepped on Dee Winters’ leg during Sam Darnold’s 5-yard scramble for a first down.

Winters limped off the field with trainers after the play and went directly into the blue medical tent. It’s unclear exactly what Winters is dealing with or how long he’ll be out.

If Winters can’t return in this game, the 49ers will have to rely on Tatum Bethune, Eric Kendricks, Luke Gifford and Garret Wallow at the position.

UPDATE: Winters is questionable with an ankle injury, per the 49ers.
