San Francisco fans got sensational Sunday news.
Second-year pro and 2024 first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Pearsall has been working his way back from a hamstring injury that sidelined him from OTAs and that landed him on the PUP list to begin training camp.
It’s a significant development for San Francisco. The 49ers’ wide receiver room is a bit of a concern heading into the 2025 campaign. Having Pearsall around for as much of training camp as possible should conceivably help with the Florida alum’s development.
Pearsall was seen warming up in uniform alongside his San Francisco teammates.
Pearsall, 24, began to show his first-round potential to close last season. The 6-foot-3, 189-pound receiver caught eight passes for 141 yards and a score in the 49ers’ 40-34 loss versus the Detroit Lions and then reeled in six grabs for 69 yards and a touchdown in the regular season finale at Arizona.
Pearsall played in 11 games, started four and finished with 31 receptions on 46 targets for 400 yards and three scores.
Pearsall’s continued ascension will be pivotal for a 49ers squad that still has no timetable on Brandon Aiyuk’s return and has its other star receiver in the midst of a contract dispute in Jauan Jennings.
