Officers arrived at the scene to find a 55-year-old man suffering from stab wounds, the agency said in a written statement.

After speaking with the victim and reviewing surveillance camera footage, police learned that the victim had been approached by the teenage suspect, officials said. The man and teen were former neighbors.

“A physical altercation ensued even though the victim attempted to avoid it,” according to the police statement. “The altercation resulted in the juvenile stabbing the victim in his face and hand with a screwdriver.”

Parmedics treated the man for his injuries at the scene.

Officers soon found the screwdriver in the area, police said. The suspect was detained when he returned to the scene.

His identity was not released due to his age. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery.

No further details were available.
