The Town of Apple Valley Animal Shelter is partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation to host the nationwide “Empty the Shelters” adoption event.
During the program dates of May 1 through 16, shelter adoption fees will be reduced to help more pets find loving homes, town officials said.
The special fees include $20 per dog and $10 per cat. License and rabies fees may apply.
All adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. This effort helps reduce shelter overcrowding while giving animals the opportunity to find loving homes.
“Empty the Shelters is a great opportunity for our community to meet the animals in our care,” Animal Services Manager Adriana Atteberry said. “We have so many wonderful pets ready for homes, and this event helps make adoption more accessible.”
Residents are encouraged to visit the shelter to meet available pets and learn more about the adoption process.
BISSELL Pet Foundation
Cathy Bissell founded the BISSELL Pet Foundation in 2011 as a natural extension of her love for animals and her commitment to their welfare, the organization said.
The foundation’s goal is to help reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues and to find a loving home for every pet.
With the help of our generous supporters, the pet foundation has awarded millions of dollars to its growing partner network of animal welfare organizations and has impacted the lives of an immeasurable number of pets in the U.S. and Canada.
The Apple Valley Animal Shelter is located at 22131 Powhatan Road and is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday.
