Arrest warrants for Eminem’s ex-wife, issued after she failed to appear in court to face drunken driving charges, have been canceled, court records said.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said Thursday that a judge issued arrest warrants for Kimberley Anne Mathers after the 51-year-old didn’t show up to court to face drunken driving charges.
Mathers was due in the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore on Wednesday for a sentencing and a hearing in two separate drunk driving cases.
Court records said the bench warrants for the Chesterfield Township resident’s arrest in the two cases were canceled on Friday.
Media reports said she turned herself in at the court on Friday.
A judge scheduled her sentencing for a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired in connection with a February incident for Aug. 13, according to court records.
Camilla Barkovic, Mathers’ attorney, was not immediately available on Monday for comment.
The cases
In February, Chesterfield Township police arrested Mathers after she allegedly struck a parked Dodge Ram pickup truck with her white Range Rover. She was charged with operating while impaired and failure to stop after a collision, both misdemeanors punishable by up to 93 days in jail.
In May, she pleaded no contest to the charges. A no-contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but it is treated as a guilty plea for sentencing in Michigan.
Days after Mathers entered her plea for the February crash, she was arrested again after allegedly striking a car on 21 Mile in Chesterfield Township. She was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, third offense.
Later in May, she was released on a personal bond and ordered to keep away from alcohol and undergo treatment.
The cases are the latest run-ins with the law for Mathers.
In October 2015, Mathers drove a Cadillac Escalade into a utility pole and ultimately into a ditch at 23 Mile and Card roads in Macomb Township. The court case records were sealed.
In May 2016, she told a Detroit radio show host during an interview that the crash was a suicide attempt. Mathers also admitted to drinking a fifth of Malibu rum before the crash.
A district court judge later denied her request to throw out evidence and dismiss the case.
Mathers was sentenced to a fine and probation in November 2016.
In 2003, Mathers was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance of less than 25 grams, driving with a license suspended, revoked, or denied, and failure to use due care while passing a stationary emergency vehicle. And in 2004, she was found in violation of probation on the drug charges and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 90 days in a drug rehab program.
