Vote for the Moore Mechanical Athlete of the Week May 18-23

The Moore Mechanical Athlete of the Week for the Petoskey-area is back for the spring sports season!

All results for this week’s poll come from Monday, May 18 through Saturday, May 23 from Emmet and Charlevoix Counties.

Congratulations to Petoskey baseball senior Tyler Pool, who earned the Athlete of the Week honor last week with 77.59% of the vote.

Pool has been a standout pitcher and infielder for the Northmen throughout the season and has found a hot stretch late in his final season.

Vote for these athletes from Tuesday, May 26 to 4 p.m., Friday, May 29. Look for another Moore Mechanical Athlete of the Week from the Petoskey-area next week.

Kaelyn Matelski, Boyne City soccer 

Matelski had another solid week, notching two goals in a victory over Houghton to begin district play. 

Dylan Aukeman, Petoskey baseball 

Aukeman kept up a recent hot streak by going 6-for-10 with seven RBIs, a double and run scored for the week, then added 9 1/3 innings pitched, just four hits allowed and 10 strikeouts. He earned two wins in his starts. 

Hadley Binko, Harbor Springs softball 

Binko was strong against Harbor Light in a non-conference double last week, going 4-for-7 with three RBIs, two doubles and a run, then added a pitching win with 10 strikeouts in six innings. 

Simon Licata, Petoskey golf 

Licata finished up Big North Conference play with a round of 78 in the championship match in Gaylord, placing seventh in the conference. 

Riley Thiel, Boyne City softball 

Thiel remained strong for the week with a line of 7-for-13, then added a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and five runs scored. 

Max Beal, East Jordan baseball 

Beal had a strong series against Inland Lakes, going 2-for-6 with three RBIs, a double, run scored and stolen base. 

Jordan Malec, Petoskey softball 

Malec earned a pair of pitching wins when PHS met Alpena last week, combining for 13 1/3 innings and a seven-inning shutout.
