There has been some subtle betting line movement in the Spartans’ season-opener against Toledo.
As we sit just under two months away from opening up the 2026 college football season, Michigan State has moved up to an 11.5-point favorite over the Toledo Rockets in the season-opener, according to FanDuel. This matchup will take place on September 4, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. ET from Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich.
The betting line originally was set at Michigan State favored by 10.5 points in late May. So this new updated line would suggest money has been coming in favor of the Spartans. This would also align with Michigan State’s over/under win total moving up from 3.5 to 4.5 in the last month.
Michigan State comes into this season with a new coaching staff led by Pat Fitzgerald and in search of their first winning season since 2021. Things haven’t been great for the Spartans to say the least in recent years, but this betting line still feels surprisingly low. Especially considering Toledo is also going through a new coaching staff transition this offseason.
It’ll be interesting to see if the betting line remains here until we get to opening kickoff or if we see some more movement. I’d guess it continues to creep up, but I also could be higher on the Spartans than most of the general public.
