When is the Michigan Republican gubernatorial debate?
The debate starts at 7:30 p.m. and will last one hour, according to information provided by the station.
Who are Michigan’s GOP candidates for governor?
U.S. Rep. John James, businessman Perry Johnson, and former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox are all competing for the Republican nomination for governor in the Aug. 4 primary. A polling average on Real Clear Politics has James, who is seen as the race’s frontrunner, ahead by 10 points.

This is the first debate featuring the three candidates. Another will take place on WOOD-TV on Thursday, July 9.
The Michigan primary election is coming up Tuesday, Aug. 4. Absentee ballots are already circulating. The winner of the Republican primary will face the winner of the Democratic primary, where the frontrunner is Jocelyn Benson.
